From the Hardware Manager click on the pad lock to unlock the Hardware module, without the pad lock unlocked; the controller properties box will not be displayed.
Highlight the controller from the hardware tree.
Address – The Address field displays the driver number the controller is assigned to in the first digit and the controller address in the second digit. For example 2.0 would be driver 2 controller 0.
Description – A Controller description can be given to the device by clicking in the text field to the right of the description tag.
Physical_Address - The software will auto-assign a virtual address to the controller. This number should not be changed.
Controller_Type – This value will be automatically selected if the controller was added using the Auto-Setup feature. If the controller has been added using this feature the field will be grayed out and is not configurable. If the controller has been added manually, the operator must designate the type of device to add.
Poll – Check box value to determine whether or not communication attempts to be made to this controller. With the box checked, communication will be attempted. When the box is checked / unchecked the driver will need to be stopped and restarted before the changes are made.
Report All System Events – This Boolean property is used to report all events from the controller. This mode is generally only used for troubleshooting purposed and should not be turned on unless directed by Technical Support personnel. To turn the Report All System Events feature, click in the check box to the right of the Report All System Events tab. Once the box has been checked the value will change to True.
MAC ID – The MAC ID is a unique set of alpha numeric characters assigned to a network device by the manufacturer. When a connection has been established to the controller, this value will be automatically populated and will change dynamically if the hardware has been changed.
Network Configuration – Click on the drop down arrow to the right of the (Network Configuration) tag to be taken directly to the controller’s configuration page. This page allows the operator to configure the controller’s network information with values such as IP address, Subnet, Gateway and CSHost.
IP_Address – Host name or IP address for the Ethernet controller. The IP address field will automatically be populated if the controller was added using the Auto-Setup feature. To modify the IP address the software sees, type the IP value in the text box to the right of the IP_Address tag.
Bits for Universal Format – The universal card format allows the customer to easily takeover existing sites and handles multiple formats without knowing specific card information about the existing cards. The Universal Format only applies to the VertX/Edge hardware and will require the use of an enrollment reader. Only one bit structure per controller can be assigned through Symphony AC. To assign Bits for Universal Format, click in the box to the right of the Bits for Universal Format and enter in the bit to be assigned when using the Universal format. Note: If the bit structure is unknown present a non programmed card to a system reader and view the event from Event Manager. The bit structure will be defined in the Access Denied: Invalid error message.
Timezone - Allows the controller to operate in different time zones from the Access Control server. To configure the Timezone click on the drop down arrow to the right of the Timezone tag and select correct Timezone for the controller’s location.
