Enrollment Reader Setup
Below are instructions on how to set up an enrollment reader. The enrollment reader setup will depend on the card format used at the site.
Enrollment Reader Setup
The universal card format allows the customer to easily takeover existing sites and handles multiple formats without knowing specific card information about the existing cards. The Universal Format only applies to the VertX/Edge hardware and will require the use of an enrollment reader. On first use, the PC Prox must be configured for the proper bit structure.
- To modify the bit format of an enrollment reader, open Internet Explorer and go to http://www.rfideas.com/Software/ to download the required software application.
- Reference the RF Ideas software installation manual for any questions regarding software installation.
- From the Windows Start Menu click, All Programs, RF Ideas, PC Prox, pcProx.exe start the pcPROX application.
- If the enrollment reader application displays a 'Not Connected' message on the bottom left of the application, go to the Connect Tab.
- Click on the "Auto-Connect Device" option
- If successfully connected, a 'Written OK' message will appear when writing to the reader.
Standard HID 37 bit
- Click on the Set Keystroke Data tab
- To change the enrollment reader to a standard HID 37 bit, change the following parameters.
- In the Parity Bit section, set the Leading Parity to a value of 1.
- In the Id Code section, check the box labeled Send ID Code and change the Enter Bit Count of ID properties to 19.
- In the Parity Bit section, set the Trailing Parity to a value of 1
- Click the Advanced Tab
- Check the box labeled Read only cards with this bit count and enter the bit structure used for example 37. This setting ensures only one bit format can be use with the enrollment reader.
- Check the box labeled Invert Wiegand Data (pcProxH only)
- Click the Write to pcPROX.
- Click in the "Use this field to view card data" box, ensure that the cursor is in the white box.
- Present the card to the enrollment reader.
- Confirm that the number on the card (that has the same bit structure) is the same number that appears in the box.
37 bit Universal PC Prox setup
- Click on the Set Keystroke Data tab
- Set the Bit Structure
- To change the enrollment reader to a 37 bit universal, in the Id Code section check the box labeled Send ID Code and change the Enter Bit Count of ID property to 37.
- Set the Leading and Trailing Parity to 0
- Check the box for Force data to length.
- Enter 1, for the FAC fixed to this length
- Enter 0, for the ID fixed to this length
- Un-check the box for Force data to length
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Confirm that the Invert Wiegand Data (pcProxH only) and Ignore H/W data inversion override are not selected.
- Click the Write to pcPROX or AIR ID button.
Standard HID 26 bit
- Click on the Set Keystroke Data tab
- To change the enrollment reader to a standard HID 26 bit, change the following parameters.
- In the Parity Bit section, set the Leading Parity to a value of 1.
- In the Id Code section, check the box labeled Send ID Code and change the Enter Bit Count of ID properties to 16.
- In the Parity Bit section, set the Trailing Parity to a value of 1.
- Click the Advanced Tab
- From the Advanced tab check the box labeled Read only cards with this bit count and enter the bit structure used, for example, 26. This setting ensures only one bit format can be use with the enrollment reader.
- Check the box labeled Invert Wiegand Data (pcProxH only).
- Click the Write to pcPROX.
- Click in the "Use this field to view card data" box, ensure that the cursor is in the white box.
- Present the card to the enrollment reader.
- Confirm that the number on the card (that has the same bit structure) is the same number that appears in the box.
Universal 26 bit
- Click on the Set Keystroke Data tab.
- To change the enrollment reader to a universal HID 26 bit, change the following parameters. In the Parity Bit section, set the Leading Parity to a value of 0.
- In the Id Code section, check the box labeled Send ID Code and change the Enter Bit Count of ID properties to 26.
- In the Parity Bit section, set the Trailing Parity to a value of 0.
- Click the Write to pcPROX or AIR ID button
