The following guide provides steps to configure and initialize the thin client in the Symphony AC Software. Considerations Prior to Setup If you have Symphony AC running as a service, it must be removed from running as a service before you can change the website port.


Setting Up the Thin Client I. Setting Up the Thin Client in Symphony AC

  1. Launch Symphony AC and navigate to the Hardware Manager module. Unlock the module by clicking the lock in the command toolbar. Left click to select the Web Service Driver to view the Web Service Driver Properties.

  1. Under the Web Service Driver Properties, fill out the following fields with the pertinent information:
  • IP address of the Symphony AC server
  • the Website Port
  • Website Description
  • Service Username – this is the Windows Service account that will be running the web service driver
  • Auto Start Web Server – If this is set to true, then the driver will automatically attempt to start when Symphony AC starts.
  • Windows Services Manager – This takes you to the Windows Services Manager.
  • Website – This takes you to the thin client in your default browser.
  • Website Timer – This allows you to choose the interval of time (in seconds) for you to see the status within the thin client. The default value is 15 seconds.
  • SDK Allowed Client IP – This is the IP address of another machine (client workstation) that will be talking back to the Symphony AC server via the thin client.
  • Client TCP Port – This is the port that the client uses to communicate to the server. By default, the clint TCP port is 4999.
  • SDK Stream Events – This is a developer option. If necessary, email sales@Senstar.com for more information.

Note: For troubleshooting purposes, if the driver does not start properly toggle the website port to an available port. (i.e. 8080, 8787, etc.)

  1. Set the “Service Username” for the Web Service Driver. This is typically a local Windows user account that will be used to run the driver as a Windows Service. Note that the service account will differ between a workgroup and domain environment. Contact your local administrator for further details. Click Save.

Note: The “Service User” needs to have rights to run Windows services. Usually, an Admin account will have the rights. If using a domain account, enter the full name. In the example below, the full name would be: (Senstar\admin). 

  1. Navigate to your Windows Services and locate the Senstar Corporation – Symphony AC Web Service. Double click to modify the service properties.

  1. Right click on the Web Service Driver and click on “Driver Commands” and click on “Start Driver”.
     
  1. To confirm that your Web Service Driver is running properly, check the following:
  • That your Web Service Driver in the left pane is green
  • The Web Service Status Screen should show a status of running
  • Your informational window screen will show that your Web Service Driver is running
  • In your Services, your Symphony AC Web Service should have a status of running


  1. By default, there is no SSL certificate for a domain. You will need to obtain a SSL certificate for your domain. Hit continue and click “Log on”.
