Calibrate a camera

For some video analytics, you must calibrate the camera to achieve optimum performance and accuracy.

  1. In the server configuration interface, click Devices > Cameras.
  2. Select the camera and click Edit.
  3. In the Add-Ons list click Configure for the video analytic.
  4. Click on the calibration image to place avatars on the image.
    The avatars help you visualize people in the sample image.
  5. In the Field of view field, type the camera's field of view in degrees.
  6. In the Pan field, type the angle (degrees) of horizontal rotation around the vertical access of the camera.
  7. In the Twist field, type the angle (degrees) of rotation around the long axis of the camera.
  8. In the Calibration section, perform one of the following tasks:
    • Click and drag the camera icon to the correct position. You can use the Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons to adjust the resolution of the calibration diagram.
    • Type the height (meters) and distance (meters) of the camera in the appropriates boxes.
  9. Click Save.
