Migrate Application from Server to Server
Below are the steps to migrate Symphony AC from server to server if using MS Access databases.
A. Download the following files: Download the upgrade file of Symphony AC to upgrade the existing Symphony AC Server PC to the latest build. Download the complete installation file of Symphony AC to install on the new Symphony AC Server PC.
B. To migrate Symphony AC from the current server PC to the new Server PC, complete the following: On the current Symphony AC Server PC:
- Close Symphony AC on the Server and client workstations.
- Create a copy of the Symphony AC installation folder. (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC” ) from the Symphony AC Server and paste on desktop. Rename to “data<todaysdate>”
- Run the Symphony AC_Upgrade file.
- Start Symphony AC to verify a successful install has occurred. Write down the current Symphony AC Serial Number. (Click on the ‘Help’ module and select ‘About’)
- Close Symphony AC.
- Copy the Symphony AC Data folder (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC\Data”) and paste into a USB Stick or network folder that will be accessible from the new Symphony AC Server PC.
On the new Symphony AC Server PC:
- Log in with Windows Account that has local admin rights.
- Turn off Windows Firewall and Anti-virus.
- Run the Symphony AC_Full_Install.exe file on this PC (follow instructions).
- Email support@Senstar.com with the Serial/Dongle Number from the old and new servers to get your activation codes
- Copy the Maintenance File that will be sent to you into the “Data” folder. (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC\Data”)
- Start Symphony AC to verify a successful install and then close Symphony AC.
- Open the Symphony AC installation folder. (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC” ) and rename the existing “Data” folder to “Data1”
- Copy the “Data” folder from the previous server (should be in USB Stick or network folder) and paste into the Symphony AC installation folder. (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC”)
- Copy the Maintenance File to the new “Data” folder. (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC\Data”)
- Open the “Configurations.exe” application. (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC\Configuration.exe”)
- Start Symphony AC.
- Navigate to the “Hardware Module”.
- Unlock the Module.
- Click on a driver to view the driver properties.
- In the “Computer_ Name” field, remove the old computer name and type in the new computer name. (Do this for all drivers)
- Clear the old “Service UserName” and “Service Password” fields (if used, if blank, leave as is) and enter the new Windows credentials. (Note: Do this for all drivers)
15. Close Symphony AC.
16. Open the “Configurations.exe” application as an administrator (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC\Configuration.exe”) and close it, no changes need to be made.
17. Start Symphony AC and all controllers should come online and events will start displaying in event manager.
Note: If using AXIS Controllers, complete the following in addition to the above: Copy the ‘axSymphony AC’ configuration file from the previous Symphony AC Server to the new Symphony AC server. This file has the last date\time the AXIS controllers communicated with Symphony AC. When the controllers connect to the new Symphony AC Server, they will look at this file and only send events after the date\time on the file. Failure to copy this file will result in duplicate events because the A1001 controller will send ALL stored events in the panel, including those already in the Symphony AC database. To copy the file please do the following:
- Stop Symphony AC on the current Server (after running the upgrade file).
- Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the Symphony AC ‘Drivers’ folder (Typically: ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC\Drivers’)
- Find & copy the ‘axSymphony AC’ file and paste it into the new Symphony AC Servers ‘Drivers’ folder.
C. To Connect Symphony AC clients to the New Symphony AC Server: On the New Server:
- Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the Symphony AC ‘Data’ folder (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC\Data”).
- Open the ‘Properties’ and share the folder. You can share with ‘Everyone’ or specific Windows users that will be using Symphony AC and give them Read/Write permission.
From the Symphony AC Clients (do this on every client PC):
- Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to the Symphony AC Servers ‘Data’ folder. (Typically: ‘\\< ComputerIP\Name>\Data’)
- If you prompted for Credentials, enter the Windows log in for the Symphony AC Server PC and select the box that says “remember credentials”.
- Open the “Configurations.exe” application. (Typically: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Symphony AC\Configuration.exe”)
- Change the “RemotePath” to the new Symphony AC Server Data folder. (Typically: ‘\\< ComputerIP\Name>\Data’ ) and click ‘Save’.
- Run (as Admin) the Symphony AC upgrade file that was downloaded.
- Launch Symphony AC.
