Settings

View - Settings sets AIRA Explorer settings that are saved across sessions.  These settings do not affect the AIRA Server directly, only how the information from the AIRA Server is presented. You can customize how AIRA displays information and behaves.

To access the Settings dialog, click View > Settings.

Display Tab

The Application Log section allows you to configure how the Application Log displays messages. The Time Line section allows you to select if the Time Line should be generated each time a new camera is selected. Selecting this will make switching cameras slower, however this is still a recommended setting. The Date Picker option specifies if the Date Dialog should have bolded days where video is recorded. This feature makes it easy to locate which days contain recorded video when loading previous days video. By selecting the Request User Credentials radio, users will be prompted for a username and password each time they load AE. This is useful if multiple users are using the same Windows profile. Normally, each user has a separate Windows profile, and login information can be cached.

Video Tab

The Video Tab allows you to customize how video is displayed and how to manipulate the control of Dome or PTZ cameras. The Zooming section allows you to control behavior when moving a PTZ or Dome camera, as well as customizing if Sliders are displayed by modifying the Zooming section.

The Video Decoration sections allows you to define how images are decorated. By default, AIRA overlays boxes and paths on the live video as objects are tracked. You can toggle on the fly if AIRA should decorate the image. Note, this only affects how live video is displayed and does not change how AIRA records video. Decoration information is always recorded separately and not written directly on the video images. This is a client side setting that does not affect other users. The same video can be viewed by one AIRA Explorer user with decorations enabled, and by another without decorations enabled. This setting also effects video play back settings. You can choose to overlay decorations or not for recorded video you are playing back.

The Render Mode specifies how AIRA Explorer renders video. If video is not displaying properly, try changing the Render Mode. Some video cards do not support all video render modes. RGB render modes require more CPU power than the default render mode.

Time Line

The Time Line tab allows you to customize alarm colours displayed in the Time Line. By default, all alarms will create a Red Dot in the Time Line. By customizing the Time Line, it is easier to locate specific events. You can configure what colour each Policy should represent in the Time Line. The Alarm Notification section allows you to specify if a dialog screen should pop up after an alarm (Policy) occurs, or if an alarm icon should be added to the system tray.

For more information on Policies, visit the Policies section.

Multi window view

AIRA allows you to open a "split" screen or virtual video matrix window, which can show 4 to 16 cameras simultaneously. Normally, AIRA will update the video panes automatically depending on activity. By selecting Automatically lock when an alarm occurs the video pane will not change to a different camera if that video pane has been populated by a camera which had an alarm. Selecting Numerous multi-views allows you to open as many "split" screens as your CPU allows.

For more information on Multi-view, visit the Multi-view section.

Sound Tab

Allows users to customize sound configuration within AE. All settings are client side.

In the Streaming Sound section, you can specify whether AIRA should play sound (requires that a microphone is used with AIRA Server).  In the Event Sounds section you can specify a default sound to be played for all Policies, or configure sounds per Policy.

Version Tab

You can specify which version of AIRA Server you wish to run. Aimetis recommends you leave this to Release unless told otherwise. If you wish to test beta versions of AIRA, you can change this setting appropriately.

Language Tab

The language tab allows you to specify the language of AIRA Explorer. By default, AIRA Explorer will use your windows system language. If you're Windows is using a language not supported by AIRA Explorer (AE), AE will automatically select English.  You can also customize how time is displayed via AE by selecting the Use 24 Hour Time radio.
